<p style="text-align: left;">Erm, this is not the Malacca Nadeje layer cakes, but it is still something awesome to introduce. Here in Kuching, you can easily spot a roadside store selling Kuih Lapis or layer cakes in English. Available in all sorts of flavors ranged from cheese, coffee, berries, chocolate to yam, this is a Sarawakians&#8217; perennial favorite which is usually enjoyed with a cup of tea.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://dc254.4shared.com/img/pG_i8xXV/s3/2011-05-03_145214.jpg" alt="" width="392" height="522" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://dc197.4shared.com/img/tW3c41_o/s3/2011-05-03_145133.jpg" alt="" width="490" height="368" /><br />
I was brought to this <strong>Mira Cake house,</strong> <strong>Kek Lapis Basah at Kiosk 15, Tebingan BGS, Kpg Gersik.</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://dc149.4shared.com/img/vH7zWL1m/s3/2011-05-03_144554.jpg" alt="" width="490" height="368" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://dc344.4shared.com/img/hSBXmE7t/s3/2011-05-03_145017.jpg" alt="" width="490" height="368" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Don&#8217;t judge it by its look, I don&#8217;t know whether it seems drooling to you or not. But I am sure that they are not cheap stuff that might chock your throat. This moist layered cake is so smooth that you can swallow it without drinking a single gulp of water.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://dc433.4shared.com/img/_vM6xXTg/s3/2011-05-03_145120.jpg" alt="" width="343" height="457" /><br />
<img src="http://dc431.4shared.com/img/SSRLvIiw/s3/2011-05-03_145024.jpg" alt="" /><br />
<em><strong>FYI, even our DPM and Chef Wan are their clients.</strong></em></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">But you do not need to be a famous figure to pay a visit to this stall, lolzzz! hahaha</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"> <img class="aligncenter" src="http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/12309_355220626057_229469551057_4192989_6683266_n.jpg" alt="" width="504" height="378" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><em><strong>Don&#8217;t blink your eyes, take your time when choosing your favorite =)</strong></em></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">BTW, you can try till you feel full before buying <strong>a loaf at RM10</strong>. ROFL!</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://dc435.4shared.com/img/n3InXJcT/s3/2011-05-03_145005.jpg" alt="" width="490" height="368" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">
<p style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://dc169.4shared.com/img/ktYMi04Y/s3/2011-05-03_145046.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><em><strong>From the photos above, can you imagine how many loaves of layer cake can be sold in a day?</strong></em></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://dc365.4shared.com/img/WTZsd1Jb/s3/2011-05-05_193418.jpg" alt="" width="490" height="368" /><br />
<strong><em>A little sprinkle of coconut shreds on top of the cheese layer cake adds a pretty touch to it. ^^</em></strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://dc432.4shared.com/img/zY1w31Ko/s3/2011-05-05_193523.jpg" alt="" width="490" height="368" /><br />
<em><strong>The hawthorn(山楂) flavored layer cake.</strong></em></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">Apparently, this unique flavor gives a sweet-sour taste which drives your appetite level to the max. <img src='http://www.iyouweblog.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p style="text-align: left;">It&#8217;s a great souvenir to bring back home and share it with friends and family. =) Aww&#8230;. hehe</p>
<p>p/s:   Hahahahaha, though I still have a stack of notes to finish but I couldn&#8217;t resist myself to post something here, at least to clean those spider webs accumulated since November. <img src='http://www.iyouweblog.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';)' class='wp-smiley' />   Sorry if you are disappointed with this &#8220;never-ending&#8221; Kuching topic, hahaha, but I promise to have more exciting posts on the following weeks. =p</p>

It was my first time seeing such a huge pizza! Haha, use it to slap on your friend&#8217;s face!! =p<br />
Located in Universal Studio Singapore, <strong><em>Loui&#8217;s NY Pizza Parlor™ </em></strong>serves you the 20-inches pizza!! Challenge you to finish it in a bite&#8230;</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://shimworld.files.wordpress.com/2011/04/stb2011-1140.jpg?w=620&amp;h=447" alt="" width="502" height="362" /></p>
<blockquote>
<p style="text-align: left;">Thin, incredibly crispy, and a mind-blowing explosion of taste is what describes Loui’s 20-inches pizzas.</p>
</blockquote>
<p>The above might be exaggerated to me. But, I am quite sure that you&#8217;ll be so tempted to have a try once you see it with our own eyes. It&#8217;s tremendous man! Who cares how does it taste, its looks is sufficient to make everyone drools.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://shimworld.files.wordpress.com/2011/04/stb2011-1178.jpg?w=620&amp;h=413" alt="" width="502" height="335" /><br />
Louis&#8217;s NY Pizza uses self-service concept to ease the flow of a long queue. Singaporeans have been used to &#8220;chopped&#8221; a seat before ordering a meal, is this true? Haha, I think that it&#8217;s because every food stall is crowded hilariously.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://dc436.4shared.com/img/ac2QFhDQ/s3/IMG_0646.JPG" alt="" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://dc435.4shared.com/img/Xfcr0QMF/s3/IMG_0655.JPG" alt="" width="490" height="368" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Though it&#8217;s not the best pizza that I have ever had, this piece of Margherita pizza with the pleasing fragrance of basil, is crunchy and &#8220;acceptably&#8221; delicious. (lack of vocab, haha, acceptably means mediocre&#8230;)</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://dc432.4shared.com/img/NbIAWcPE/s3/IMG_0652.JPG" alt="" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_0MJoxRb7upU/TUgdojQQtOI/AAAAAAAAAQo/0Vs9EmLL7mE/s1600/Picture+546.jpg" alt="" width="518" height="389" /></p>
<blockquote><p>The Pepperoni was the crowd favourite because it’s juicier and, well, the taste of pepperoni is always more exciting than just plain minced meat.</p></blockquote>
<p style="text-align: left;">Heard that pepperoni crowns the others&#8230; Waiting for my second chance to taste it.. would it be on the coming Christmas?</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://dc427.4shared.com/img/ey_YKfVl/s3/IMG_0642.JPG" alt="" width="490" height="368" /><br />
<strong><em>That shows the price $9 for a slice, $13.80 for a combo with a cake and soft drink.</em></strong></p>
<p>Overall, it&#8217;s the size that matters and worth to have a try! ^^</p>
<h2><span style="color: #ff0000;">3.5</span> /5 stars</h2>

<strong><em>It will be less crowded in the late evening at around 8.30pm.</em></strong></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">(Sorry to the Muslim, this is not Halal)</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://dc432.4shared.com/img/i3MrWwpF/s3/IMG_0625.JPG" alt="" width="490" height="368" /><br />
<strong><em>This shows how well-known it is. =)</em></strong></p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong><em></em></strong><br />
Don&#8217;t tell me that you visited Singapore without savouring this famous Ng Ah Sio Bak Kut Teh. It&#8217;s just ridiculous!! Get down from Farrer Park MRT and walk along Rangoon Road for around 5 minutes, the shop will be on your right.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://dc305.4shared.com/img/yzEtbTFd/s3/IMG_0613.JPG" alt="" width="490" height="368" /></p>
<p>I wouldn&#8217;t think of this perfect match of<strong> black pepper soup with Bak Kut Teh herbs</strong> until I tasted it here in Singapore. Back in my place, I hate those Bak Kut Teh stores which add in a lot of white pepper (powder form). This is simply because the white pepper might eventually wipe off the original taste of BKT soup.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://dc389.4shared.com/img/z62LKAeC/s3/IMG_0624.JPG" alt="" width="490" height="368" /></p>
<p>But, it&#8217;s a totally different story in this bowl of BKT served in Ng Ah Sio&#8217;s restaurant. The black pepper soup tastes so familiar to me. I used to have it when I was young,<del datetime="2011-10-28T03:20:29+00:00"> my babysitter cooked</del> nostalgic moment! It&#8217;s not chocking spicy or hot. On the contrary, it&#8217;s so &#8220;temperate&#8221;, the fragrance of chinese herbs is brought out with the fine peppery soup. Though the meat is tender, it is not the soul of this bowl of BKT, the soup plays the best part of it.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://dc342.4shared.com/img/LLayu6ay/s3/IMG_0614.JPG" alt="" width="490" height="368" /></p>
<p>$5.50 gets you a small bowl of pork ribs soup with 3 tiny pieces of well cooked meat that sports a reddish hue inside. $7.50 on the other hand, gets you 2 slightly bigger pieces of spare rib. Soup is refillable and it&#8217;s FOC. <img src='http://www.iyouweblog.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://dc271.4shared.com/img/3uSeOdmT/s3/IMG_0620.JPG" alt="" width="490" height="368" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://dc317.4shared.com/img/bzVAPyr9/s3/0.9981700763798255/IMG_0622.JPG" alt="" width="490" height="368" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">We ordered braised pork intestine as our side dish. The intestine is a little overcooked, it&#8217;s too soft to my liking. But, thumbs up for the oily gravy. Ignoring the health issues, the <em>(malay spices)　star anise/clove</em>-infused gravy is superb eaten with a large mouthful of rice.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://dc402.4shared.com/img/fZQHOkdD/s3/0.6467734239139681/IMG_0618.JPG" alt="" /></p>

		</div>
<p>Throughout the week in Kuching, we were brought to few places to have our bowls of Sarawak Laksa which taste so different from Penang Laksa and the normal Curry Laksa. Personally, I love Sarawak Laksa the most among the three.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong>Madam Tang&#8217;s</strong></span> VS <span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong>Golden Arch Garden</strong></span> VS <span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong>Ah Yew</strong></span><br />
<span style="color: #ff0000;">Let&#8217;s FIGHT! =p</span></p>
<h3 style="text-align: left;"><strong>Madam Tang&#8217;s</strong></h3>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://dc379.4shared.com/img/o26NqtVP/s3/2011-04-28_174608.jpg" alt="" width="392" height="522" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://dc403.4shared.com/img/ZE4odlzM/s3/2011-04-28_175007.jpg" alt="" width="490" height="368" /><br />
Madam Tang&#8217;s cafe served a wide range of foods but we were there for its Laksa which costs <strong>RM5.50</strong> per bowl. It is located in <strong>the Spring (shopping mall) food court</strong> or you may find its standalone cafe in <strong>Petanak, Kuching</strong>.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://dc181.4shared.com/img/XGnrWSPb/s3/2011-04-28_180337.jpg" alt="" width="490" height="368" /><br />
Haha, don&#8217;t get me wrong! With RM5.50, you wont get this～ The Special Laksa with huge prawns will cost you RM10.80. The <em>thick flavorful gravy</em> is the soul of this signature dish. It is creamy and heavy with loads of spices and herbs. However, it is a little too salty to my liking. Not to forget, Madam Tang&#8217;s was the winner of <a title="Kennysia | IyouweBlog" href="http://kennysia.com">Kennysia</a> 2008 Best Sarawak Laksa Award and recommended by <a title="JFook | IyouweBlog" href="http://jfook.blogspot.com/">JFook</a>.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: left;"><strong>Golden Arch Garden</strong></h3>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://dc239.4shared.com/img/GTnp5c5J/s3/2011-04-30_113349.jpg" alt="" width="392" height="522" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Most of the Kuchingnites will know this famous stall. Situated at the <strong>3rd Mile Roundabout, Kuching</strong>, the stall has its laksa priced at <strong>RM3.50 / RM4.50 / RM5.50</strong> according to the size of prawns.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://dc309.4shared.com/img/Cr6faUMv/s3/2011-04-30_112646.jpg" alt="" width="490" height="371" /><br />
<em>I think you can guess how nice is the laksa now, hehe! </em></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><em></em><br />
<img src="http://dc105.4shared.com/img/-TmoMYiF/s3/2011-04-30_111704.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://dc387.4shared.com/img/4UrqZxzY/s3/2011-04-30_111358.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://dc97.4shared.com/img/CErOUxpX/s3/2011-04-30_111347.jpg" alt="" width="490" height="368" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">The rice vermicelli is soaked in a well-mixed gravy which has a balanced composition between the coconut milk and spices. I&#8217;d label it as the OPTIMUM version of Sarawak laksa which suits everyone&#8217;s taste buds in general. It is legendary good when the lime juice and sambal paste are added into it. &#8220;Serious Fucking Business&#8221; is used to describe this bowl of laksa by <a href="http://sixthseal.com">Sixthseal</a>. How fucking good is it? You must give it a try to know the answer!</p>
<h3><strong>Ah Yew </strong></h3>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://dc372.4shared.com/img/V_TFqiT5/s3/2011-05-03_110409.jpg" alt="" width="392" height="522" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://dc380.4shared.com/img/zPrTyLGl/s3/2011-05-03_110440.jpg" alt="" width="490" height="368" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Personally I love this the most! Location and price will be updated soon. (I forgot where is it FML, but I know tht I love this the most!!!)</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://dc234.4shared.com/img/1mruTv6q/s3/2011-05-03_111821.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://dc271.4shared.com/img/yBU_pjvj/s3/2011-05-03_112143.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">This is the only laksa that I&#8217;m craving for another bowl! Why is it so SPECIAL? Simply because it doesn&#8217;t contain any coconut milk which may cover the original taste of the soup and spices. The lightened soup with a little sourish and minimal spiciness make my day! I feel that this is a healthier way of having a bowl of laksa! <em>(less fat and less cholesterol though it still has some PRAWNS, cheating myself actually, hehe) </em></p>
<p>So the conclusion is choose your bowl of laksa according to your taste buds! Yupz, this post miss out the laksa in Choon Hui cafe (so-called the best laksa in Kuching, I haven&#8217;t try it yet!!!)</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1dNdgJ_PCzM/TgwYXrC8UrI/AAAAAAAAFuU/EhlNr7rCNkE/s1600/1+IMG_7239.JPG" alt="" width="518" height="389" /></p>
<p>Next post on Kuching will be featuring Kolou Mee, Damai beach, Crocodile farm, Food Valley Seafood&#8230;..</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">Hot Spring in a forest? Run away from the hustle and bustle of city life!!<br />

<p style="text-align: left;">You will find this <strong>Kampung Panchor Dayak Hot Spring</strong> in less than an hour journey from Kuching town. Located at the 27th mile Kuching (near to Serian), the hot spring will not fail to impress you with its greenfield site.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/h478/iyouweblog/sarawak/smilehotspring.jpg" alt="" width="523" height="427" /><br />
<em><strong>A narrow road led these happy faces to the hot spring. =)</strong></em></p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/h478/iyouweblog/sarawak/2011-04-27154824.jpg" alt="" width="523" height="405" /><br />

<p style="text-align: left;">There are just few simple benches built around the hot spring. The entrance fee is RM3 which you wont get this price elsewhere. Most of the visitors are above 50+ and they seem very familiar to this hot spring. Frankly, the hot spring isn&#8217;t really famous, not every kuchingnites know about it.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/h478/iyouweblog/sarawak/hothotspring.jpg" alt="" width="526" height="412" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Stop laughing! xp The water was warm, hot indeed! I can hardly immerse my leg into it. You must force yourself to try it, you will feel a layer of coldness wrapping your leg after a few seconds in the water. It was amazing, hard to describe the feeling with my limited vocab. ==&#8221;</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/h478/iyouweblog/sarawak/2011-04-27160241.jpg" alt="" width="523" height="405" /><br />
<strong><em>Qianni, Jocelynn, Amy and Carmen! Lenglui, phew wit! =p</em></strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">Thankz <a title="popo Jocelynn " href="http://zzlynlynzzmushroom.blogspot.com/">Jocelynn</a> for bringing us to this place! =)</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/h478/iyouweblog/sarawak/2011-04-27160303.jpg" alt="" width="523" height="405" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Coincident, there were a group of teenagers! <em>They dared to immerse the whole body into the <strong>SUPER HoT</strong> water!</em></p>
<p>p/s:  At last, Kuching trip is on my blog. xp Still sorting the photos and planning how to organise them into my blog posts. Stay tuned yea!</p>

<p>At first, this was what i heard, &#8220;You guys wait here for a while, I&#8217;ll tapau (take away in Eng.) few packs of cow dungs for you.&#8221; o.O Cow dung?</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://dc383.4shared.com/img/4C1traa6/s3/cowdung.jpg" alt="" width="379" height="481" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Haha, that was my fault actually, I heard it wrongly. The real name for this Thai dish is Khao Jam (pronounced as COW JUMP). You might find different spellings of these two words (eg. kau jam, kaljam, kaw jam and etc) as they aren&#8217;t English words.</p>
<blockquote><p>Khao Jam a.k.a green rice- A kind of Thai food with green rice and a lot of vegetables plus fish, coconut shreds with budu! Khao means rice while Jam carries the meaning of &#8220;mixed&#8221; in Siamese language.</p></blockquote>
<p style="text-align: left;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://dc384.4shared.com/img/L5z06ozK/s3/240420114624_2.jpg" alt="" width="490" height="368" /><br />
This Thai lady is preparing our &#8220;Cow Dung&#8221;!<br />
The stall is located in the standing Buddha temple in Kota Bharu, Kelantan. Besides this stall, you can have your Khao Jam at U-lang corner in Kota Bharu town.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://dc415.4shared.com/img/WvStHdbU/s3/240420114627.jpg" alt="" width="490" height="368" /><br />
<strong><em>Spot the BUDU (black-colour-liquid), coconut shreds and chilies!</em></strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong><em></em></strong><br />
<img src="http://dc388.4shared.com/img/wRuZQ37W/s3/240420114625.jpg" alt="" /><br />
<em><strong>Some unknown greenish gravy, xp!</strong></em></p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://dc385.4shared.com/img/vdV6mW64/s3/240420114631_2.jpg\&quot; alt=" alt="" width="490" height="368" /><br />
The rice before mixing with the veggies. Full of herbs and spices, its taste is kinda unacceptable for me at the first bite.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://dc396.4shared.com/img/mVzLqwyA/s3/240420114633.jpg" alt="" width="490" height="368" /><br />
The green veggies, lovely! This should be mixed with the rice and a little tablespoon of budu will be added to flavor the dish.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://dc401.4shared.com/img/mcIH9Gef/s3/240420114634_2.jpg" alt="" width="490" height="368" /><br />
The result after mixing everything up! But still, it was hard for me to swallow it&#8230; T.T It didn&#8217;t match my taste buds.<br />
At last, I know what&#8217;s the matter that affecting my appetite &#8211; the scallions!!! I removed all of them and the Khao Jam taste heavenly without them!</p>
<p>Haha, sorry for my weird fondness&#8230;</p>
